WebGL animation not running inside PHP file

I created an animation and saved it in WebGL format. The generated HTML file runs fine, but when I change file extension to PHP it doesn't run anymore, I only see an empty rectangle on screen. I really need to use PHP to retrieve data from server, and without the PHP extension the browser shows all my PHP code like plain text. Does anybody know how to fix this?
